Introduction

Scammers are always coming up with new ways to trick people into giving them their hard-earned money. The recent email scam that is targeting PayPal users is no exception. This scam involves fake invoices that appear to be from Coinbase, a well-known cryptocurrency exchange, and they are designed to look like a legitimate PayPal invoice.

Online scams are on the rise and one of the most common ways fraudsters trick people is by using fake PayPal invoices. This type of scam involves criminals posing as a legitimate entity such as PayPal or a reputable company and sending emails asking you to make a payment. The email may look convincing, but there are several red flags that you should look out for to avoid falling victim to this scam.

How to Spot a Scam Invoice Email

First, take a close look at the sender’s email address. Scammers often use email addresses that look similar to the real PayPal email address, but with slight variations. Look for any spelling errors or odd characters in the sender’s email address. In my case the senders email was looking very legitimate because it was from service@paypal.com. That’s when I understood anyone can request money using their PayPal email ID posing as a seller, so PayPal triggered an email.
